St. Nicholas Festival Highlight Of Columbus Weekend
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Flushing celebrated its 42nd annual festival on the weekend of October 10-13 and it was enjoyed by all members of the New York City community. The event has become an annual tradition for the church since 1971, when St. Nicholas was the first community to sponsor an ethnic festival in the New York Metropolitan area. Persons of all backgrounds came to taste Greek and Cypriot cuisine, listen to live and DJ music, shop at the flea market, play the numerous games and visit the vendors. Minore and Sfera Entertainment provided outstanding singing and bouzouki playing all four evenings. A DJ played Greek music in the Food Court. Admission was free.
Every major politician in New York City attended, greeted warmly by Rev. Protopresbyter Paul Palesty, Rev. Presbyter Aristidis Garinis and Rev. Presbyter Joakim Valasiades.
