Michigan Senate Republican leader Aric Nesbitt says state is at crossroads. He wants to change its course
DETROIT – Michigan Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt is making his case to be the state’s next governor in an interview at WDIV in Detroit on Monday.
Nesbitt said Michigan faces critical challenges that require bold leadership. From reversing population decline to overhauling education and infrastructure, Nesbitt said he is the candidate to turn things around.
“So I can have a better place my children and grandchildren to grow and stay,” said Nesbitt when asked why he wanted to be governor. “I think too often we’ve seen our children find opportunities outside of the state, and we need to find the opportunities here in Michigan. Nesbitt said he is running to shake up Lansing’s bureaucracy and push for policies that will strengthen Michigan’s economy and workforce -- believing his life story and experience sets him apart in the race.

He's not a politician, but what we used to refer to as a statesman back in the day when we actually could find some if we looked.
Apparently, nearly all of the people who answered the 12, doors he knocked on during his campaign in feel the same way. In a primary of six candidates, Nesbitt won 50 percent of the vote, 5,, despite being outspent. His nearest competitor tallied 1, votes. In the general election, he won 62 percent of the vote.
So, who is this guy really? What was the road he took to Lansing? And might his road take him beyond Lansing one day?
"Growing up on a family farm, you learn a lot about self-governance, independence, and hard work, " he said. "And, being the middle of five kids you lea
